Don't be modest Bickers, for balloon modeling I need all the help I can get (and the same goes for my English too).
Patje, I was thinking that you should look for these shoes they had at that time, these shoes with a big buckle (Dutch "gesp") on top. That would even be more authentic. I don't know if you still can buy those, though.. About the socks, I have seen a living statue perform once some years ago and they also didn't wore socks. I can remember that because at the time I was puzzled with that. Now I know why LOL!

@ clownptje if the statue is supposed to look like made of copper that you should add a hint of green in places. if it was bronze than keep it the way it is. all depends on what brown medal is it. JiM

In recent years Christmas has become more and more commercialized. The same holds true for Chanukah even though it is a minor holiday. It makes sense. How could we market a major holiday such as Yom Kippur? Come to synagogue starve urself for 27 hrs then have big sales on matreses and electronics:

Jim,
Thanx for your answer. The statue is supposed to look like a real statue, so it doesn't matter if its bronze-look or copper-look.

A try-out with paint.
I asked myself if it is to dark?
What do you think?

I think it's just a bit to dark. Just a bit lighter would be better. I think you should have the color of the lightest part of the bag, certainly not darker then that part of the bag.
